After weeks of reading and assessing entries, The Wales Blog Awards judges are pleased to announce their 2011 finalists.
For the second year in a row, the overall standard was very high, and the variation in topics, writing style and presentation was extremely diverse. This made it difficult to choose just a small number of finalists to compete for the prize in each category, but we got there in the end.
All of the shortlisted bloggers will be invited to the awards night at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, on Thursday 27 October 2011.
There will also be a limited number of tickets available for non-participants – with details to follow. We’ll post more information soon about this and the awards night.
Winners of each category will be selected by a variety of sponsoring organisations. However, this year there will also be a ‘People’s Choice Award’, which will be decided by an online public vote.
If you’d like to cast you vote for ‘The People’s Choice,’ please take a look at the blogs below, and select your favourite using the voting system at the bottom of this post. The deadline for votes is 21 October.

Footdown for the win!!!
A very difficult choice, but the winner for me this year has to be Jacqui Thomson’s Camarthen Planning blog. She is surely the only Welsh blogger to have been arrested this year because of her blog’s campaign to bring about greater transparency in Welsh local government. I hope fellow bloggers and blog readers will show solidarity with Jacqui in defence of the freedoms we all enjoy.

ffwtbol.con is a cracking site. First port of call each evening for the latest blog.
http://moviewaffle.com/ – I check it as much as I check Empire and Total Film (my two favourite ‘movie magazines’) when deciding on films. Great writing and personality coming through.

How were these nominations chosen?
What about:-
http://dicmortimer.wordpress.com/
http://jacothenorth.blogspot.com/
http://mauveandyellowarmy.net/
http://babylonwales.blogspot.com/
All far better than any nominated in the relevant category.
The nominations were made by bloggers and readers of blogs, and anyone is free to enter. None of the blogs which you mention were nominated for any awards this year. Please feel free to nominate all four next year – the more the merrier!
Absolutely delighted to have shortlisted, thank you very much! Looking forward to the ceremony on the 27th October, but in the meantime off to check out all these brilliant blogs!
Thanks for shortlisting us! though i fear the competition may be too strong (especially from the excellent Camarthenshire Planning Problems and more).
I’ll be talking about Radical Wales alongside Steve Devereux of Motown Junkies, at the Cardiff Blogs meetup a few days before the ceremony if anyone’s interested. Details here: http://cdfblogs-october-eorg.eventbrite.com/
